Zuber is from a traditional bandhani family, but his father did not practice the craft. Zuber apprenticed with a goldsmith for a year, then decided to learn bandhani from a friend and relative. He enjoyed the immediacy of working with on silk with acid dyes. However, he did not have access to markets so he earned a living by stenciling patterns for other bandhani artists.

Zuber has a special love for colour, and was interested in learning natural dyes.

In 2005, he joined the pilot year of Kala Raksha Vidhyalaya. He graduated in 2006, and won the award for Best on the Ramp.

After graduating, Zuber did a project with Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology, and found he had a flair for stitched resist shibori. He began to create a unique niche for himself.

In 2013, Zuber participated in the Co-Creation Squared fashion show in Mumbai. Collaborating with Lachhuben Rabari and Anju Modi, he created fresh shibori patterned fabrics for garments. He attended and exhibition for the first time and did well. Since then, he has begun to show his own work directly to clients in exhibitions. A natural teacher, Zuber has also participated in SKV craft traditions workshops.
