Taraben's parents were born in Sindh and migrated to Gujarat in 1972. Her mother grew up in Tharad, and married in Faradi. Her father makes a living polishing tiles. Tara is second eldest in a family of two brothers and two sisters. Tara did not like school, and she left after 5th grade to do house work. Tara’s mother taught her embroidery, and she has been embroidering since then. She gives the money she earns to her family. A good artisan knows more, Tara says. She has to know traditional concepts. She believes that suf tradition will continue if artisans think of the value of their efforts. Tara learned about Kala Raksha Vidhyalaya from her cousin Tulsi, who completed the course the year before. In 2012, Tara studied at KRV.

Taraben graduated from KRV with the award for Best Presentation. In 2014, Taraben joined the Somaiya Kala Vidya BMA Course. She wanted to get full benefit of her work. Tara feels the option of working in a group insures variety as well as production capacity. "We can work in a team," she says. "We are healthy competition.”

For her 2015 collection, Tara embroidered stoles inspired by butterflies. After presenting to the SKV jury, and participating in a public seminar, Taraben received her certificate in Business and Management for Artisans from Somaiya Kala Vidya on 31 January, 2015.

"Experiencing our clients helps us plan. I began to think of doing my own work."
