Soyab’s family is originally from Dhamadka where his grandfather Karim Mohamadbhai created Ajrakh for the Maldari. After the earthquake of 2001, Soyab and his family shifted to Ajrakhpur. Soyab’s family works exclusively with natural dyes and makes materials for domestic cities within India. Soyab started work as an “Upperlo” -washing boy, and began printing in 2010. He thinks a good artisan should be able to understand the market and materials, and should know how to make good colours. And he should work with concentration and passion. Soyab is proud that his family uses natural dyes, which do not destroy or harm man or the environment. He feels that it is important to educate buyers. In 2012, Soyab studied at Kala Raksha Vidhyalaya.

Soyab graduated from KRV with awards for Best Collection and Best Student. He has enthusiastically developed new designs. He has taught workshops in block printing and natural dyeing to international visitors, and participated in a workshop in natural dyeing at MS University, Baroda. In 2014, Soyab joined the Somaiya Kala Vidya BMA Course, to increase his. He decided to concentrate on smaller orders and direct customer sales.

Soyab's 2015 collection is inspired by Van Gogh. He used his strengths in colour range and hand painting. After presenting to the SKV jury, and participating in a public seminar, Soyabbhai received his certificate in Business and Management for Artisans from Somaiya Kala Vidya on 31 January, 2015. The jury presented him with an award for the Most Promising Entrepreneur.

"I observed, when a leaf dries, the colour changes and the texture emerges... In each class, the previous class was useful. In making new motifs, I began to understand"
