Shafikbhai's family originally came from Kundrodi village, but for the last 7 generations they have lived in Mundra. Shafikbhai’s, great grandfather, grandfather and father all sold materials: dyes and fabric. Safikbhai revived bandhani for the family. He was interested in colour, and learned from Ibrahimbhai. For twelve years. Safikbhai worked with over 25 artisans, creating products for local markets: Bhuj, Anjar, Gandhidham, Mundra, and Jamnagar. "To become a good artisan," Shafikbhai says, "one has to have a desire and focus on colour, proportion, composition and craftsmanship.” In 2013, Shafikbhai studied at Kala Raksha Vidhyalaya.

Shafikbhai graduated from KRV with the award for the Most Marketable Collection. He joined the Somaiya Kala Vidya BMA course in 2014, to change the direction of his business. He decided to focus on quality, natural dye, and new raw materials, slowly adding new designs. For his 2015 collection, Shafikbhai chose the theme "Sunset," and focused on colour, his strength. After presenting to the SKV jury, and participating in a public seminar, Shafikbhai received his certificate in Business and Management for Artisans from Somaiya Kala Vidya on 31 January, 2015.

"I never did so many experiments. I got some ideas. I learned how to segment the market. We can make  changes to tailor our product to different market segments."
