Adil's family has lived in Bhuj for generations. Although they are traditional dyers, Adil's grandfather was professor. His father Mustak Mohamad Abdul Majid has government job in BSNL His mother does bandhani tying. After completing grade 12, Adil learned the traditional family craft, bandhani, from his uncle Akhtar. Akhtar has taken the craft ahead. He won a national merit certificate, and his wife Kulsum has also won a national merit certificate. Adil likes learning new things. Although he has only practiced his traditional craft for a short time, he is eager to take it in new directions.
In 2013, Adil studied at Kala Raksha Vidhyalaya. Adil graduated with awards for Best Collection, Best Presentation, and Best Student. In 2014, he joined the Somaiya Kala Vidya BMA Course, to explore design. He knows that business is a link. “We learned to plan for the long term and to prioritize.”
Adil’s 2015 collection is inspired by the dramatic colours and textures of a storm. After presenting to the SKV jury, and participating in a public seminar, Adilbhai received his certificate in Business and Management for Artisans from Somaiya Kala Vidya on 31 January, 2015.
